"Greenland Whale Fishery"

An alternate for verse 6 paints a kinder Captain:
To lose that whale,” the captain cried,
It grieves my heart full sore,
But to those four gallant men,
It grieves me ten time more, brave boys…”
Herman Melville’s 'first hand' description of the killing of a whale (page 3) is the most harrowing I know of.
